One of the original 5 burough cocktails of New York City, the Brooklyn Cocktail originally featured a liqueur called Amer Picon which is nearly impossible to find today in the United States. Because of this, it has become a modern favorite of cocktail makers who eagerly put their stamp on the drink by substituting an endless array of bitter replacements.

Ingredients

2 oz Rye Whiskey
1 oz French Vermouth
1/4 oz Maraschino Liqueur
1/4 oz Amer Picon, substituted with Amaro Averna

Preparation: How to make a Brooklyn Cocktail

  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
  3. Garnish with a lemon or orange rind.
