Dead Bastard Recipe

Gin, Cognac, Rum, Bourbon, Ginger Beer, Lime Cordial, Angostura Bitters
The Dead Bastard is a variation on Joe Scialom's famous hangover cure, the Suffering Bastard, devised after he was exiled from Egypt and Cuba and wound up in New York. It's a bit more powerful (and complex) than the original, for those mornings when you need more than a little hair of the dog.

Ingredients

0.5 oz Citadelle Gin
0.5 oz Pierre Ferrand 1940 Cognac
0.5 oz Plantation 3-Stars Rum
0.5 oz bourbon
4 oz ginger beer, chilled
0.5 oz lime cordial
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Orange slice and mint sprig for garnish

Preparation: How to make a Dead Bastard

  1. Add gin, cognac, rum, bourbon, lime cordial, and bitters to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until chilled.
  2. Stir ginger beer into shaker.
  3. Pour unstrained into a double Old-Fashioned glass.
  4. Garnish with an orange slice and sprig of clapped mint.
