Whiskey, Soda Water

The Highball, while technically referring to an entire family of drinks made with a spirit and a non-alcoholic mixer served in a tall glass with ice, is a name often given to a simple combination of whiskey and soda water. This refreshing drink first became popular in the UK in the late 19th or early 20th century, and is often referred to as a Scotch and Soda. Add a little lemon wedge or twist and you've got a killer classic cocktail.

Highball Ingredients

2 oz whiskey (usually scotch)
Soda water
Lemon wedge or twist for garnish

How to make a Highball

  1. Add scotch to a Highball glass filled with ice.
  2. Fill with soda water.
  3. Garnish with a lemon wedge or twist and serve.
