This recipe is for a single classic, premium Manhattan. It makes a rather large, potent double that has good sipping flavor.
This recipe came out of many trials and errors with various premium bourbons, and proportions. Knob Creek is perfect for a Manhattan. Its slightly sweet flavors stand out in this drink. Any premium sweet vermouth may be substituted. And don’t forget the bitters - it isn’t a Manhattan without bitters.
|3 oz Knob Creek bourbon whiskey|
|1 oz Martini & Rossi sweet vermouth|
|2 dashes Angostura bitters|
|1 stemmed maraschino cherry|
Preparation: How to make a Perfect Classic Manhattan
- Add bourbon, vermouth, and bitters into a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir well (for at least 20 seconds).
- Strain into chilled cocktail glass.
- Add stemmed maraschino cherry.
