Suburban Recipe

Rye Whiskey, Dark Rum, Port, Orange And Angostura Bitters
Photo for Will Shenton
Named after the Suburban Handicap horse race, a New York classic dating back to 1884, this is a great cocktail for chilly evenings by the fireside. It also might be the only combination of rye, rum, and port we've ever come across—as strange as that sounds, it's delicious.

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz rye whiskey
1/2 oz dark rum
1/2 oz port
1 dash orange bitters
1 dash Angostura bitters

Preparation: How to make a Suburban

  1. Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled, about 30 seconds.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
