One of the most exciting things for a bartender, home or otherwise, is getting to try a new ingredient. Recently, I had the opportunity to check out a great new cinnamon cordial from San Francisco called Cannella. After some highly enjoyable taste-testing, I immediately started using it to reimagine some of my favorite cocktails. The Three Sticks is a variation on the Third Rail (#2), a classic from the Savoy Cocktail Book.

Ingredients

1.5 oz Pisco
1.5 oz Rum
0.75 oz Calvados
0.75 oz Cannella Cinnamon Cordial
1 dash Pernod

Preparation: How to make a Three Sticks Cocktail

  1. Add ingredients to a mixing glass with ice.
  2. Stir until chilled and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Grate fresh cinnamon and star anise over the glass and serve.
