The Whiskey Sour is a very popular drink that is both a bit sour and a bit sweet and can be served up or on the rocks. Fresh lemon juice is the key to making this a great cocktail.
|3 oz bourbon or rye whiskey|
|1.5 oz fresh-squeezed lemon juice|
|1.5 oz 1:1 simple syrup|
|1 dash orange or angostura bitters|
|.5 oz egg white, beaten (optional)|
|1 cherry and/or orange slice (optional)|
Preparation: How to make a Whiskey Sour
- Pour whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup into a shaker, fill with ice and shake for 10 seconds. If using the egg white, dry shake without ice for 10 seconds, then add the ice and shake for another 10 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice and add a dash of bitters. Garnish with a cherry and/or orange slice, if desired.
