A White Russian is a simple vodka cocktail with a creamy, coffee flavor that makes for a great dessert drink. It is very similar to a Kahlua and Cream but stronger due to the addition of vodka.
Believed to have been invented sometime in the 1950s, the White Russian cocktail has enjoyed renewed popularity thanks to the 1988 Hollywood hit The Big Lebowski in which the main character, lovingly called The Dude, no fewer than nine White Russians throughout the entire film.
|2 oz vodka|
|1 oz coffee liqueur (Kahlua is a popular choice)|
|2 oz cream|
Preparation: How to make a White Russian
- Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice.
- Pour vodka and coffee liqueur into the glass.
- Float cream on top.
- Optionally, swirl to mix the cream evenly, or leave the cream floated and let the drinker decide.
