Bruichladdich Octomore 07.4 / 167 ppm Virgin Oak

Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Bruichladdich Octomore 07.4 / 167 ppm Virgin Oak is a limited release, extremely heavily peated single malt scotch whisky that carries no age statement. It was aged in virgin oak casks, a first for the Bruichladdich range. The Octomore line is, by all accounts, the peatiest in the world—other Islay whiskies like Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and Ardbeg rarely break 60ppm.

The Bruichladdich distillery was founded in 1881 on the Scottish island of Islay, a region known for its characteristically peaty whiskies. The name is pronounced "brook-lad-dee," meaning "stony shore bank" or "raised beach." Their range includes several brands, including an eponymous unpeated line, the "heavily peated" Port Charlotte line, and the "super heavily peated" Octomore line, as well as the critically-acclaimed Botanist Gin. Bruichladdich has recently garnered acclaim for its slick labels and branding, as well as embracing a fairly iconoclastic approach to scotch distilling.
