Planter's Punch Recipe

Dark Rum, Orange Juice, Pineapple Juice, Lime Juice, Grenadine, Simple Syrup, Angostura Bitters

About the Planter's Punch
The Planter's Punch recipe, like so many tiki drinks, depends a lot on the tastes of the bartender making it. The original can be traced back to the early 1900s (sometimes under the name Jamaican Rum Punch or Creole Punch), and has at times been as simple as rum, lime, sugar, and water, or as complicated as a mixture of dozens of tropical fruit juices—for better or worse. To differentiate it from other classic rum cocktails like the Daiquiri, though, we've gone with a more modern interpretation that falls somewhere in between the two extremes. This Planter's Punch recipe uses dark rum, pineapple, lime, and orange juices, and a splash of grenadine to make for a fantastic tropical drink. Be sure to use fresh juices if possible (at least for the lime and orange, since pineapple can be a pain unless you have a juicer), and a good, classic grenadine like Liber & Co. or Small Hand Foods, not the overly-syrupy Rose's.Planter's Punch, as its name implies, can also easily be made as a punch for a large group by multiplying this recipe by the number of servings you need.
