cask strength

  1. A distilled spirit that has not been diluted after aging in a barrel. Most spirits are aged at a very high ABV, then diluted with water before bottling. However, some spirits are bottled with little or no dilution, and are labeled as cask strength spirits. This practice is most common for whiskey and rum, but can be done with any barrel-aged spirit.
