North America’s 50 Best Bars were just announced, and New York’s Double Chicken Please came out on top. The second annual ranking is part of World’s 50 Best Bars, and as the name implies, the North American awards honor the best bars in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City, Katana Kitten in New York, Licorería Limantour in Mexico City, and Jewel of the South in New Orleans round out the top five. Overall, the U.S. leads the way with 28 bars, followed by Mexico with 14 and Canada with seven. One bar in Puerto Rico also made the list. New York and Mexico City put up particularly strong showings.
Double Chicken Please opened in late-2020 under the leadership of GN Chan and Faye Chen. They take a culinary approach to cocktails, deconstructing iconic dishes and then reassembling them in cocktail form. Popular examples include NY Beet Salad, Cold Pizza, and Key Lime Pie.
