Old-Fashioned Glass

What is a Old-Fashioned Glass?

The old-fashioned glass (also known as a rocks glass) is a short, thick-based tumbler that is commonly used for cocktails built directly in the glass, typically stirred or “on the rocks” (over ice). The old-fashioned glass shares its name with its most famous cocktail served in it—the Old-Fashioned Cocktail.

The traditional old-fashioned glasses typically held 5-8 oz of fluid, but these days it’s more common to see double old-fashioned glasses which would typically hold 10-16 oz of fluid, and sometimes even more. We recommend getting “average-sized” double old-fashioned glasses so you can use them for smaller cocktails as well.
