Sauza Tequila just announced the introduction of Sauza Blue to the market, a tequila made from 100% blue agave. This is a big step up from Sauza’s current mixto offerings, which blend other sugars with agave plant sugars to produce the final product.
Sauza Blue is made with fresh-pressed agave at its Jalisco, Mexico distillery, and it will be available in Silver and Reposado expressions.
Sauza is joining other big tequila brands in bolstering their lineups, like Jose Cuervo, which recently introduced the 100% agave Cuervo Tradicional Silver to the market. With so many affordable 100% agave tequilas these days, there’s really no reason to settle for headache-inducing mixtos.
Sauza Blue Tequila is being released now to store shelves near you. Both the Silver and Reposado tequilas clock in at 80 proof and will cost about $19.
I was surprised at how good this Sauza Blue Reposado is. It’ s fairly cheap – under $20 – and it’ s very good all by itself, no mixers needed. If I have to mix it to drink it, I don’ t buy it. Or at least, I don’ t buy it twice. I’ ve had tequilas at triple that price that were *far* inferior, in my opinion.
Sauza blue reposado tequila is the worst 100% blue agave tequila i have ever tasted
Headache inducing mixtos? Not so fast…
I am a big fan of 100% agave tequila, and since the availability of agave is not an issue anymore [in recent history], I am 100% for the fact, of always using it.
But we also need to stay with the truth. Mixtos are not necessary headache inducing. Lets face it – rum is made from sugar cane [which is usually the sugar origin for the addition to the mash of agave] – and you don’t get more headache of rum than from tequila.
This is the BEST tequila we have ever had!!! Hope they start making it in larger bottles so we canmake fewer trips tothe store 🙂
Love sauza silver for my classic cocktails, can’t wait to try the Blue!
