Some news today on the tequila front. Tequila Herradura just announced the release of Colección de la Casa, Reserva 2012, Port Cask Finish. This is the first in a series of small-batch tequilas that will feature one new release each year. This inaugural product is a reposado tequila that’s rested in American oak for 11 months before being moved to vintage port casks for a further two months of maturation. The double-aging process accentuates the notes of cooked agave, increases complexity and delivers a nose of dried fruit and ripe plum, cinnamon, caramel and chocolate.
“The first of our innovative barrel finish concepts, Port Cask Finish, complements Tequila Herradura Reposado’s award-winning taste profile while adding a new dimension of flavor. The result is a perfectly balanced blend and a new style of tequila,” said Tequila Herradura’s Master Distiller Maria Teresa Lara.
Only 2,000 cases of Tequila Herradura’s Colección de la Casa-Port Cask Finish will be available, so if you’d like to score one for yourself, don’t delay. Bottles are hitting select stores this month with a suggested retail price of $89.99.

Color: Amber with shades of rose and copper
Aroma: An enticing balance of sophisticated smoky notes, warm tobacco, dried fruit, and a hint of spice.
