As we’ve witnessed from numerous fundraisers and events over the years, bartenders have a unique ability and desire to assemble for a good cause–donating their time and effort in the ultimate show of hospitality. And that’s what we have here, as the Ultimate Cocktail Experience is back in its fifth year. Started by Bryan Townsend and based in Dallas, this cocktail showcase features craft drinks from talented bartenders, and more importantly, it raises funds to assist chronically ill children and their families. So it’s a pretty easy cause to support.
This year, the expanded event takes place in Klyde Warren Park. The theme is Cocktails from Around the World, and will feature five pop-up bars helmed by some of the best bartenders across the state. Each bar will represent a different geographic region—Asia, South America, Africa, Europe and North America—with accompanying décor and drinks. And with more than 100 bartenders making about 40 different cocktails and featuring dozens of great spirits brands, there’s no shortage of interesting drinks to try.
Each of the five teams is captained by local bartender representing one of the better cocktail spots in town:
–Kiyoko Kinoshita, Midnight Rambler (Asia)
–Andrew Stofko, Victor Tangos (North America)
–Jenny Park, Filament (Europe)
–Ravinder Singh, Rapscallion (South America)
–Bryan Dalton, Mexican Sugar (Africa)
Last year’s event raised $130,000, with proceeds supporting Trigger’s Toys programs to help kids in local hospitals. And this year, the Ultimate Cocktail Experience hopes to raise $300,000 to fund the expansion of its program into additional facilities. Let’s help them make that a reality. So join in, drink good drinks, have fun and support a worthwhile cause in the process.
