This week Chivas Regal unveiled their first new blended whisky in eight years. Dubbed Chivas Regal Extra, the rich scotch was created with Strathisla Single Malt at its core, plus a high percentage of Chivas’s rarest house malts that have been matured in Oloroso sherry casks.
From Chivas:
The new blend has a fruity, sweet nose with notes of ripe pears, creamy toffee and a hint of ginger. The ripe pears continue on the palate, with sweet tropical flavors of melons and soft notes of vanilla and caramel, blending with spicy notes of cinnamon and hints of almonds.
Chivas Regal Extra can be enjoyed neat, of course. But the brand says that its nutty sweetness, spiciness and deep rich amber color can be used to elevate classic cocktails like the Old Fashioned and Blood and Sand.
Chivas Regal Extra is currently available in select U.S. markets including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, Northern California and Texas. It will expand to the rest of the U.S. later this year.
