Rhum Clemente Intros Two New Expressions
Rhum Clement, the makers of some fine rhum agricole, recently announced two new spirits — Clement Canne Bleue and Clement Select Barrel. Clement Canne Bleue (50% ABV / $35) is a white rhum crafted from fresh juice that’s extracted from one unique varietal of sugarcane. Clement Select Barrel (40% ABV / $30) is aged for three years in used French oak, which imparts soft vanilla notes to this aged rhum.
King Cake Vodka Exists
To celebrate Mardi Gras, Pinnacle Vodka has released its newest flavor: King Cake. And a little research shows this isn’t even the first, as Lucky Player and Taaka released King Cake vodkas in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Who knew the King Cake vodka market could be so competitive? Anyway, now you know. Drink at your own risk.
Whiskey Produced from Craft Beer
Chocasmoke is the first whiskey in the Seven Stills Distillery’s “Seven Hills” project, which aims to create a unique craft beer-inspired whiskey for each of the seven hills of San Francisco. Westland’s First Peated American Single Malt Whiskey
Seattle’s Westland Distillery has just released First Peated, a new expressed that began its life as a mash of two separate malts before maturing in charred new American oak. The first was a heavily peated and very smoky barley malt, and the second was Westland’s Washington Select pale malt. Those two malts merged, and First Peated is the result. It’s first run produced 700 bottles, which will available at the distillery and select Seattle-area bars. 46% ABV / $65
