a bottle of Old Grand-Dad Bottled in Bond 7 Year Bourbon

Old Grand-Dad is back with its annual release of 7-Year-Old Bonded Bourbon. Each year, this Kentucky Straight bourbon whiskey is produced from a single distillation season in accordance with the Bottled-In-Bond Act, which also stipulates that a spirit must be produced in the U.S., aged in a federally bonded warehouse for at least four years, and bottled at 100 proof.

The 2025 release was barreled in the spring of 2018, so it’s been patiently aging beyond the required four-year period, picking up more flavors and aromas over time. The current iteration is formulated with a high-rye recipe—the mashbill is 63% corn, 27% rye, and 10% malted barley—so it has some spice but is still relatively light and easygoing.

First introduced in 1882, Old Grand-Dad is a traditional and storied bourbon. The iconic brand was acquired by James B. Beam Distilling Co. in 1987 and has become a favorite amongst bartenders, collectors, and whiskey aficionados. It’s common to see OGD paired with beers for boilermakers and mixed into whiskey cocktails.

Old Grand-Dad 7-Year-Old Bonded Bourbon is available now with an MSRP of $40. The brand also makes a few other expressions, including the entry-level four-year-old bourbon, which is 80-proof, and the fan-favorite OGD 114.
