There are no shortage of unique spa treatments in this world. And there are already “beer spas” from Oregon to Prague. So it was only a matter of time before some enterprising folks in the UK created a gin spa.
The newly-opened and aptly-named Gin Spa is “the very first botanically inspired day spa in the world,” which is easy to believe. And it comes from the team behind Gin71, a line of gin bars in Glasgow and Edinburgh. So at least they know their source material.
In many ways, Gin Spa operates just like a regular spa, with a full menu of treatments, from massages and facials to reflexology. It’s just that, in this case, everything involves botanicals you might find in gin, like juniper and citrus peels. And, much like a pairing, the mix of botanicals correspond to moods and feelings. Want to feel happy? For that, there’s pink grapefruit, bergamot, and lime. Rather feel tranquil? Bring on the cedarwood, lavender, and geranium. You get the idea.
No actual gin goes onto your person, but there is a little gin bar on site, so guests can have a sip or a cocktail. And many of those treatments include a welcome drink or a Gin and Tonic from the drinks trolley (oh yeah, there’s a drinks trolley). There’s even a five-course gin tasting flight, which seems like an extra-relaxing way to complete the experience.
The Gin Spa is located in Glasgow. Check out the site to learn more, peruse the menu, or book a service.
