Ron Burgundy Gets His Own Scotch
It’s true. Ron Burgundy, the character popularized by Will Ferrell on Anchorman (and soon to be Anchorman 2) has a Scotch now. It makes sense, we suppose, given the incredible marketing push currently behind this movie. But whereas we don’t need a Dodge Durango, we’re always game for some Scotch. In this case, it’s called Ron Burgundy Great Odin’s Raven Special Reserve, and it’s a blend of malt and grain whiskeys. It’s crafted by Old St. Andrews Distillery, bottled at 40% ABV and is hitting shelves now for about $25.
A New Expression from Cutty Sark
In more — albeit slightly less sensational — Scotch news, Cutty Sark just announced a new expression. Dubbed Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition, this dram pays homage to the brand’s Prohibition era origins. It’s 100 proof, costs about $30 and, according to the company, is “composed of black pepper and toffee notes with a subtle hint of vanilla and citrus fruits.”

In Case You Need a Whiskey Recommendation…
Also helpful for the holidays is this new “whiskey recommendation engine.” It’s called Distiller, and after entering a few parameters (like who it’s for, their adventure level and your budget), it’ll recommend a bottle to meet your needs.
