Another year, another top-50 list of the world’s best bars. Taking the top spot in 2019 is Dante in New York, an Italian cafe known for its Negronis and other aperitivos. Rounding out the top five are the Connaught Bar in London, Florería Atlántico in Buenos Aires, the NoMad in New York, and the American Bar in London.
Each year, the list is put out by William Reed Business Media, a UK-based group that also publishes the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. The annual ranking of bars is voted on by more than 500 drinks experts from across the globe.
London once again took top honors, with 10 bars in the top 50. The cynical among us could chalk that up to home cooking, but it’s no secret that London has one of the world’s most vibrant bar scenes. Both New York and Singapore got six nods this year, while Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Athens, Barcelona, and Buenos Aires each boast two honorees. The only other American bar to make the list was Trick Dog in San Francisco.
