The new anCnoc Blas is a very fashionable kind of whisky. See, Scottish born fashion designer Patrick Grant collaborated with the Knockdhu distillery to create this limited edition expression. Grant serves as the creative director of the Savile Row tailors, Norton & Sons, as well as luxury menswear label E. Tautz. So he’s an able man for the job. And after spending time at the distillery and gathering some inspiration from the sights and sounds therein, he designed the bottle label and packaging. Hence the attractive label art.
The whisky itself was matured in 50% American oak and 50% first-fill Spanish ex-Oloroso casks. It’s not chill filtered and no color is added. On the nose, anCnoc Blas is full of fruit and honey–it’s sweet, floral and inviting. Take a sip, and the full-bodied whisky coats the tongue with an oily richness. Flavors of vanilla and chocolate emerge alongside more honey, sherried fruit and orange oils. It finishes long and warm with some chocolate, fruit and mild spice.
The 108 proof anCnoc Blas is a tasty dram. It’s full of flavor, well-balanced and goes down with a surprising level of finesse.
