wyoming whiskey double cask sherry-finished bourbon

Wyoming Whiskey makes whiskey in Wyoming, so they really nailed the company name. And now, the independent, family-owned distillery that crafts its products from regionally-sourced ingredients is bringing us Wyoming Whiskey Double Cask, a bourbon that’s finished in sherry barrels. This new release joins the brand’s other marques, including Small Batch Bourbon, Single Barrel Bourbon and Outryder, a high-rye American whiskey.

Wyoming Whiskey Double Cask is the company’s first barrel-finished product. The five year-old bourbon, which spends those years in white American oak barrels, is moved to Pedro Ximenez sherry barrels for a spell before bottling.

Wyoming Whiskey Head Distiller, Sam Mead, developed the new whiskey with help from industry specialist and master blender Nancy Fraley. Says Fraley: “The Sherry-Finished Bourbon features dark, autumnal notes of dried apricot and fig, stewed prune, black currant and toasted nuts. There are hints of candied orange peel, vanilla butter cream, and molasses underneath. The finish is comprised of dark, dried fruit followed by warm, brown baking spices.”

Sounds delicious.

Wyoming Whiskey Double Cask retails for $59.99 and will see a limited release in select markets around the country, including Wyoming (makes sense), New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Illinois, Texas and California. So if you need a frivolous reason to move… now you’ve got one.
