Kellan Irish Whiskey is a blend of malt and grain whiskeys. It is double distilled and then aged more than four years in used bourbon casks. Kellan is produced at the Cooley Distillery, one of only three distilleries in Ireland, and the only independent distillery in the country.
Kellan Irish Whiskey has a golden amber hue and soft aromas of honeyed grain, roasted nuts and sweet malt. Take a sip and taste a lot of the same, plus some chocolate, honeyed fruit and a slight caramel flavor from its days aging in a bourbon barrel. The finish is long and dry, with lingering notes of wood. From start to finish, things remain relatively balanced but a little rough around the edges at times. And those flavors are just kind of muted throughout.
Add some ice or a splash of water to the 80-proof Kellan, and it seems to do more harm than good. Rather than opening up new flavors, it merely dilutes the mild ones that are already there.
At about $20, Kellan Irish Whisky is a solid enough buy. The blend of malt and grain whiskeys with that chocolate note results in a flavor profile that’s a nice change from some of the more popular, tried-and-true Irish whiskeys on the shelf. But for our money, we’ll stick with those.

A business friend who owns a package store said “hey you like Irish Whiskey” – try this and handed me a nip bottle. (I think the original goal was to just give me a perk) A week or so later I tried it and as the saying goes I liked it!!! This is just a real nice smooth taste. I can’t say why but (a little sweet and very pleasant)it is great.
Most Irish whiskey is distilled 3 times. This, only 2. The description above omits the taste of formaldehyde and burnt rubber. If you like Jameson, you will hate this stuff.
