BACARDI Daiquiri

BACARDI Daiquiri

The daiquiri is a simple, three-part classic cocktail that’s one of our favorites. A simple mix of rum, lime and sugar, the daiquiri is an achievement in balance and refreshment that keeps us coming back for more. So if we’re going to celebrate a pseudo-holiday, it’s going to be National Daiquiri Day, which just happens to be today, July 19.

Tracing its roots back to 1898, the daiquiri was first concocted by Jennings Cox in Cuba and employed Bacardi Superior. Since then, the drink has led an interested life and has found favor among many accomplished drinkers. Ernest Hemingway might be most famously associated with the cocktail (he drank them in large, icy goblets with grapefruit juice and a touch of maraschino). President JFK was another fan of the drink–he consumed the cocktail aboard his sailboat, the Honey Fitz. And then, of course, we’ve got the daiquiri’s impact on tiki culture, and New Orleans’ love affair with the now ubiquitous drink.
