Cocktail Enthusiast has teamed up with the fine people at Cocktails & Classics, the LOGO TV show that combines good drinks with cult classic films. Each week, Michael Urie and friends will take a close look at campy, quotable movies like Clue, Showgirls and Hairspray while drinking CE-provided cocktails.
For the April 23 airing of Showgirls, the Cocktails & Classics crew will make fun of the generally panned film starring Elizabeth Berkley. And as they do, they’ll be sipping on the “Versayse,” which is how our young starlet pronounces Versace. Anyway, it’s basically a Kir Royale, and here’s the corresponding recipe, which is simple yet sultry… kind of like Berkley’s character, Nomi. If you’re tuning in, you’ll want to drink a few of these.
The Versayse
1 oz crème de cassis
4 oz champagne
Add crème de cassis to your champagne flute. Top with cold champagne and garnish with a long twist of lemon peel.
Cocktails & Classics airs Sundays at 8/7C.
This is usually called a Kir Royale 😉
