The World’s 50 Best Bars is back for another round, once again recognizing the world’s finest drinking establishments. Yesterday’s awards ceremony marked the organization’s 13th list. The voting academy is composed of more than 600 industry experts, including bartenders, bar owners, drinks writers, and consultants.
Connaught Bar, located at London’s five-star Connaught Hotel, ranks number one for the second year in a row. It’s followed by another London bar, Tayēr + Elementary.
In total, the 2021 list features 18 new entries and includes bars from 17 different countries. Singapore and China lead the way with six bars each, followed by the United States, Mexico, and Spain with four, and the U.K. and Australia with three.
Only two cities in the U.S. made the cut this year—New York and Miami. NYC’s Katana Kitten climbed six spots to number 10, followed by Dante at 30 (a steep decline from the past two years, when it ranked first and second, respectively) and Attaboy at 34. Miami’s Café Trova is a first-time entry, falling in line at number 28.
