The Painkiller is a fine, fine cocktail. Itself a riff on the Piña Colada, the Painkiller is composed of rum, pineapple, orange juice and cream of coconut and gets a dusting of nutmeg on top. Well, here comes a riff on the Painkiller. From Charleston’s Poogan’s Smokehouse and Beverage Director Kyle DeGolyer, this is the Spiced Banshee, a rich, sweet and spiced drink that’s full of flavor. It begs to be sipped under an umbrella. Or while occupying an air conditioned barstool. Both are good options.
Spiced Banshee
1.5 oz Striped Pig Spiced Rum
1 oz pineapple juice
.75 oz banana-infused sherry
4 dashes housemade curry bitters
Shake hard with ice and strain into a collins glass. Garnish with banana chips and fresh grated nutmeg.
