But you don’t need 100 bottles to craft solid drinks. With just a handful of adaptable modifiers, you can transform those base spirits into a bevy of classic cocktails and unique originals.

Sweet vermouth is one example of a versatile modifier. Because it’s mostly sweet, slightly bitter and all-around herbal, it can play many parts. It can sweeten a drink like a manhattan, or add an herbal component that pairs nicely with gin in a martinez. In a similar fashion, bartenders can use PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur to modify an entire arsenal of drinks. PAMA’s interesting sweet/tart flavor profile works well with a variety of ingredients, including citrus, sweet liqueurs and bitter liqueurs, as well as both dark and clear spirits. Below are two easy-to-make cocktail recipes — one whiskey, one gin — that utilize PAMA’s sweet/tart profile for a tasty, balanced result.

Forbidden Sour

1 oz PAMA
1 oz bourbon
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz simple syrup

Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice and garnish with an orange wheel.


Collins to Action

1 oz PAMA
1 oz gin
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1 tsp simple syrup
Club Soda

Combine all ingredients except club soda in a shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain over fresh ice in a collins glass, and top with club soda. Garnish with an orange wheel and a cherry.
