As 2017 winds down and we prepare for 2018, we would like to take a moment to thank our Bevvy users for a great year. What started out as simply an idea to share drink information has grown into a resource used by many thirsty people around the world—for finding cocktail recipes, learning about spirits, discovering great bars, and more.
Now, let’s take a look back at the year that was.
Bevvy users’ favorite drinks of 2017
- By far, your popular drink of choice was the Moscow Mule with its many variations.
- You drank a lot of Manhattans and its inspired riffs.
- You also liked quite a few Martinis with its infinite twists.
- We were pleased to see you enjoying your Old-Fashioneds with the plentiful plays on it as well.
- And as the fun-loving bunch that you are, you certainly had quite a few jello shots throughout the year.
- Your most popular spirit choice was whiskey, and you sought out top scotch whiskies, delicious Irish whiskeys, best cheap vodkas, and great Japanese whiskies (in that order).
- Many of you learned how to make orgeat syrup at home.
- You were quite interested to learn of the top bars and where bartenders themselves choose to drink in places like Boston, Denver, New Orleans, Dallas, and beyond
- And finally, champagne-based New Year’s cocktails are all the rage this last week of 2017.
Bevvy’s 2017 Highlights
And as we reflect on our own year here at Bevvy, we wanted to share a few of our 2017 highlights:
The most interesting spirit we (finally) tasted in 2017 was the iconic Louis XIII—delicious, with amazing depth and a wonderful finish that just went on and on. Happy New Year
As we’ve said before, it’s a great time to be a drinker. More craft distilleries are popping up everywhere around the world, aspiring distillers are getting better and better at their craft, and young stock are finding more time to mature in barrels. Restaurants are increasingly touting top beverage programs, bartenders continue to find more creativity even as they come back around to simpler drinks and recipes, and there’s heightened consumer awareness for flavor, quality, and what they put in their body.
We thank you for a wonderful 2017, and look forward to raising glasses and bending elbows in 2018. Happy New Year from all of us at Bevvy.
Cheers and love.
